Mb Diesel Wagon Opportunity To Acquire Well Maintained 1979 Mercedes 300 Diesel Station Wagon?

Opportunity to acquire well maintained 1979 Mercedes 300 diesel Station Wagon? - mb diesel wagon

Anyone who has experience with MB van, diesel? What kind of MPG can I expect? This is a second car and the owner gave me a
Grand Prix. They are reliable MB diesel to harvest or repair issue? The parts are expensive and the most expensive diesel in California now than gas. So go approximately 7 million. Miles per year.

Thank you for your understanding.

I used in 1985 300TD Diesel (truck) have
It was a very good car. I would still go, if not been in an accident.
Take the car for a good Mercedes mechanic before buying. You should know what to do to the car, because it can not be "perfect" state. If you need some relief is good, but you should know that there are no major problems.
If the seller is not the car to the mechanic you are not the car.

It's a car for 28 years, and this means that it probably things that are wrong, because in old age. Sealing doors and windows can be dry and not close to perfection. Check under the carpet for signs of water. These cars have a tendency to rust (unless a problem if the car was always) in the CA. Check with a mechanic compression. This is the lifeblood of a diesel engine. The wear of the injection pump can be expensive and) normal wear items (water pump, alternator, at some point. However, these cars are beautiful, especially as a coach. I removed myself at 250,000 miles, I know it's still at least 50,000.

It is a W123?

You should expect 25mpg .. Not bad for resentment and the age of this machine ...

It is a very reliable engine

Basically a good car, very slowly. Despite all the nonsense that you can hear the fuel mileage is 18 mpg around town and 23-25 mpg highway.

Problem areas are: a) temperature control (heating / AC), b) a speed (usually broken) and c) the negligence of the previous owner.

What price is "good"? If it is clean, works well, nicely decorated, needs nothing, and sounds good to $ 3500th If you mat on uneven surfaces, painting, must be within the tire, and so work begins as little as $ 1500.

The best thing to do, what if you buy both the change fuel filter, adjust the valves and the beginning of the use of fuel additive "Redline" is a good project, each time to meet you.

And make sure the heat works!

And remember, these cars are very, very slowly. If you do not live with 0-60 in about 16 to 19 seconds, then it is for you.

A good test for this car? If not start immediately, cold, probably exhausted.
